Programme description
This is computer science curriculum that will allow graduating with the title of engineer having competences in the area of pure and technical sciences. Study graduation will allow creatively applying and developing IT solutions based on computer technologies, understood as an interdisciplinary field of knowledge and practice of wide importance for the modern economy. The graduate will have knowledge and skills, mainly practical, related to various fields of computer science and teleinformatics, digital data processing, analog and digital electronics, telecommunications, automation and modeling (e.g. computer simulations and virtual reality), as well as the creation and management of IT systems, applications (web and mobile) and network/web services, including virtualization and cloud solutions.
The advantage of the curriculum is the application, technical and engineering aspect that distinguishes this programme from theoretical computer science. Thanks to this, it provides very good competence preparation - theoretical and practical, as well as technical and non-technical, appreciated by employers.
The 3.5-year study program also includes courses from the area of classic computer science education, such as programming in several programming languages, building computer systems, configuring networks and services, as well as creating interactive websites.
It should be emphasized that a significant advantage of these studies is the possibility for the student to shape their education path by choosing from the major subjects at each stage of study. These are courses beyond the main canon that function as blocks to choose from and allow for profiling one's own education in accordance with individual interests or future career plans.
Modern teaching methods are used in the teaching process, such as: the flipped classroom, the project method and the problem method. In addition, each student can use the resources and infrastructure of the faculty (including 3D printing, virtual reality devices, quantum calculations and measuring devices) in order to develop their competences according to their current passions and interests, as well as those discovered during their studies in the following years. Students are offered professional internships that are carried out with employers from the IT/ICT telecommunications industry.
Requirements under the Act on the Protection of Minors
The condition for participation in practical classes (laboratories) and completing mandatory student internship is that the student meets the requirements specified in the Act of 13 May 2016 on Counteracting Sexual Crime Threats and Protecting Minors, in particular, undergoing verification in the Register of Sexual Offenders and submitting information from the National Criminal Register regarding specific crimes, and in the case of students who are foreigners or have resided in countries other than the Republic of Poland for the last 20 years, also submitting additional declarations as well as information from criminal records of other countries together with sworn translations. Failure to meet the requirements specified in the aforementioned Act will prevent participation in practical classes and completing mandatory student internship, and consequently, graduation.
Specialties
Students from the third year onwards are offered education paths - internet technologies, programming, measurement and control, networks and teleinformatics, security and virtual reality (immersive) technologies - which the students can choose in proportions corresponding to their interests and needs.
